    Jigawa: 15 perish in auto crash

    No fewer than 15 passengers were confirmed dead after a ghastly motor accident involving an Opel  salon ‎car with registration number AA 664 DRA that collided with an oncoming truck with registration number XA 779 NSR at Gagararwa local government of Jigawa State.
    The accident which occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, was said have happened when an Opel car with a capacity to carry only seven passengers was overloaded with an excess of eight passengers that was heading to Gumel local government area from Gagarawa town  ‎lost control and went straight to collide with the oncoming truck.
    Nine passengers were said to have instantly died in the human ‘sardine’ vehicle before they could be removed while six others were also reported to have died on reaching the hospital.
    The Jigawa state Police public relations officer SP Abdu Jinjiri who told the Sun that the Opel vehicle was overloaded with 15 passengers instead of its initial capacity of only 7 which had lost its control and collided with the truck along Gagarawa town.
    ‎The PPRO said the accident car sandwiched and killed the entire passengers which also made it difficult to remove most of them alive.
    ‎He said the 15 corpses were deposited at the Gumel general hospital while the truck driver, a 22 year old Isyaku Umar of Majia village of Taura local government was also arrested.
