Governor Ayade Says Bakassi Deep Seaport Project Will Provide Opportunity For North Eastern Nigeria

Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade says the proposed state owned Bakassi deep Seaport will provide economic turnaround not only for the state and it's neighbors but   the north eastern part of the country when  the project is completed.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with AIT in Calabar, Ayade  said the seaport which is going to be the deepest in Africa with a 275 kilometre super highway as the evacuation corridor will be a model to change  cross river state fortunes from tourism destination to a destination for commerce and industry.
He said the state’s interest in developing the non-oil sector using the port to tell a story of a nation with agro-economy with huge potentials in solid minerals and agriculture which can be exported to European countries.
AIT's Rasheed Olanrewaju reports that the designed and the preliminary work of Bakassi Deep seaport project have been completed with the construction ready to commence in the first quarter of 2018.
