KELECHI IHEANACHO CELEBRATES ‘VAR GOAL’, SAYS ‘IT’S A GOOD THING’

History Maker Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed his approval of the use of VAR in football saying “it’s a good thing”
The Nigerian forward became the first player to score a goal awarded by a video assistant referee in English football when he scored a brace as Leicester beat Fleetwood 2-0 in an FA Cup third-round replay
Speaking to Leicester TV shortly after the game the 21 year old expressed delight with the victory
“We are happy we got past Fleetwood side today” Kelechi said
“It was a very good game and they are a good side so we are happy we got the win tonight”
“Yes I’m happy coming back and scoring 2 goals. I’m very happy”
“We worked together as a team and played a very good game tonight”
“It wasn’t that good in the first half but we stuck through it together as a team and the first goal came”
About scoring a goal assisted by VAR the Nigerian said:
“To be fair I didn’t know at the time whether I was onside or offside. Riyad Mahrez told me I was onside though”
“It was a great goal. I didn’t get to celebrate with the fans at first but the goal counts”
“It’s a good thing this now happens in football. I think we love it”
